Marina Calzia has almost 30 years of experience in development assistance, the majority of which spent working at the External Relations and Enlargement services of the European Commission (EC). At the EC, Marina first worked in the TACIS Programme (Technical Assistance to the former USSR countries) and in the Meda programme ( Technical Assistance to the Mediterranean countries). She later joined the Directorate General of Enlargement as part of the “Serbia team” administering the institutional set up for Serbia’s accession process to the European Union.
At the EC she managed large projects in developing and transitioning economies countries and she is an expert in EC contract award procedures and project cycle management.
Later in her career, Marina was seconded at the Directorate General for European Integration of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to foster participation of Italian public and private sector in EC-funded programs.
Marina Calzia has extensive professional experience overseas including: Armenia, Georgia, Cyprus, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Russia, Serbia, Somalia, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
