Marcela Prieto-Botero

Marcela is a political scientist from the Universidad de Los Andes with a Masters in Public Policy in Latin America from Oxford University. She is an expert in developing projects designed to strengthen institutions according to the principles of democracy and rule of law. Marcela has extensive knowledge about the functioning of the State, how to strengthen civil society, and how to achieve effective interactions between the public and private sectors.
She is currently Vice President of Institutional Affairs at Visión Américas in Washington DC, a consulting firm specializing in public affairs and government relations. Previously, she was director of Foros Semana, a strategic unit of Publicaciones Semana, responsible for organizing debates and forums on the foremost topics of the day for Colombia.
In the third sector, she led the Instituto de Ciencia Política – Hernán Echavarría Olózaga, one of the most influential think tanks in Colombia.
She has advised and managed several political campaigns. She has also been an international consultant for institutions such as Oxford Analytica.
She has been a columnist for the Colombian newspapers La República, and Portafolio and the portals Lasillavacia.com and Razonpublica.com. She has had teaching experience at the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations of the Universidad del Rosario in Bogotá.
